The edition '怪芋 I / Strange Callas I' (1978/2024) by Kosen Ohtsubo was produced on the occasion of the exhibition 'Flower Planet'. The Japanese artist Kosen Ohtsubo is one of the most important practitioners and teachers of the art form of Ikebana. Working with living material, his ephemeral sculptures confront the viewer with questions of being in and with the world, processes of decay, fleeting beauty, and the impossibility of human control. The edition is selected from Ohtsubo's photographic archive, which spans over fifty years of work, and testifies to the central status of photography in his practice: being both a work in itself as well as documenting the ephemeral nature of his ikebana sculptures.
